Norfolk retailer sponsors young Wroxham footballers
One of Norfolk's best known retail names is the latest county business to get behind top local football club Wroxham FC. Lathams of Potter Heigham is sponsoring the club for the 2012/13 season as well as funding its Under 18 team football kit. Wroxham U18s (pictured above) followed their progression into the next round of the FA Youth Cup with a 6-0 home win against Lowestoft Town U18's at Trafford Park in October, followed by a 5-0 win against North Walsham last month. Highest ever level Promotion as champions at the end of the 2011/12 season, took the club into its highest ever level, the Ryman League Division 1 North, step 4 of the Football League Pyramid, and only three divisions from the full Football League. Following promotion from the Anglian Combination in 1988, Wroxham has won the Eastern Counties Football) League on no less than eight occasions, with the bonus of reaching the FA Vase Final in the 2009/10 season. Supporters include local residents, year-round tourists and Norwich fans, Norwich City FC ground Carrow Road only being eight miles from Trafford Park. Wroxham's ground is now scheduled for a further phase of development as the club seeks to maximise success on and off the pitch. A division of eastern counties value retail group QD Stores, Lathams is famous for offering a fast-moving range of bargain gifts, foods and apparel, its China Warehouse, and nationally-renowned fishing tackle department.
