Lathams of Potter Heigham, is pleased to lend its support to the Three Rivers Way project

Local employer and retailer, Lathams of Potter Heigham, is pleased to lend its support to the Three Rivers Way project, which would encourage more cyclists, walkers and holiday-makers to this stunning area of natural beauty, in turn boosting the local economy and hopes that other local organisations and businesses will do the same.

The construction of a flood alleviation bank with a path suitable for pedestrians, cyclists and mobility vehicles along the top would allow locals and visitors alike to access the villages of Hoveton, Horning, Ludham and Potter Heigham without having to travel by car or risking cycling or walking along the dangerous, narrow and winding A1062, which has no verges or footpaths.

The Three Rivers Way Association is poised to employ a fund-raising manager once £20K is raised, with Norfolk County Council match funding.  In order to encourage local businesses to get behind the project, a dvd has been created by local film-maker Joe Jackson, with Lathams of Potter Heigham sponsoring its production costs.  The dvd serves to highlight the need for the Three Rivers Way, demonstrating how, along with creating better access to local amenities, it would encourage locals and visitors to be healthier through taking more exercise and thereby reducing the number of car journeys.

Norman Lamb, MP for North Norfolk commented “I am delighted that Lathams are supporting this inspiring project and I would urge other local businesses to join forces to make it possible to employ a funding officer for a 12 month period. This scheme could bring real benefits to the Broads area delivering a potential pay-back for the local economy.”

Chris Meale, Manager of Lathams of Potter Heigham, a popular destination for both locals and visitors to the Norfolk Broads who enjoy shopping for quality products at greatly discounted prices, says ‘Lathams is pleased to lend its support to the Three Rivers Way project, which will help to boost the local economy by encouraging more cyclists, walkers, holiday-makers and even fishermen to the area and hopes that other local businesses will follow suit.’
